Comparison of GLCC's Buffing Dust and other GLCC Toxic Materials from the Cylinder Prep Area and Analysis of Samples from Camp Pond and Camp Water Well
When it rains, buffing dust and other GLCC toxic materials migrates off-site through this hole and flows southwest along the railroad tracks. This toxic fluid contains ingredients from GLCC products like: flame retardants, and waste products like: chemical coatings, labels, adhesives, solvents, strapping tape, steel cylinders, steel shot or steel grit abrasives, and other GLCC toxic materials. It rains a lot.

About 20 feet below the surface of the ground here is the first aquifer, which is called the Interbedded Unit (IBU). The elevation of the IBU in the area of the above picture is approximately 280 to 300 feet. The elevation of the IBU at the Camp Pond is approximately 240 feet. This toxic fluid soaks into the IBU and flows southwest in the IBU to feed the spring fed Camp Pond.
This toxic fluid contains ingredients from GLCC products like: flame retardants, and waste products like: chemical coatings, labels, adhesives, solvents, strapping tape, steel cylinders, steel shot or steel grit abrasives, and other GLCC toxic materials.

The EPA took some core samples
from the Camp Pond Sediment in July 1977. Analysis of these core samples shows
detection of Tetrabromobisphenol A
(Synonym: 4,4'-ISOPROPYLIDENEDIPHENOL) at 300 ug/Kg or 0.003
ppm.
Tetrabromobisphenol A is a flame
retardant made at GLCC-Central.
