Velsicol manufactures a diverse line of fine chemicals for industrial use. Benzoic acid is Velsicol's basic building block that is used in numerous applications internal to Velsicol and by a diverse customer base. Benzoyl chloride is used in applications as an intermediate ranging from benzoyl peroxide to pharmaceuticals. Velsicol supplies four grades of benzyl alcohol to satisfy industrial requirements for this unique solvent. Chlorendic anhydride is a reactive flame retardant for primarily unsaturated polyester applications.  Hexachlorocyclopentadiene is a critical raw material required for the manufacture of a key pesticide to protect valuable crops.  Velsicure® benzophenone is the most basic photo initiator used in the UV cure industry.  Velsicol also supplies the very important food additives Probenz® sodium and potassium benzoate.
